Dear Membership; I would like to take this moment to introduce myself. My name is Brian Papa and I am the IHSSCA Boys Vice-President. One of my duties as Vice-President is that I’m in charge of getting to you the application/registration for our Association. Our Association is the means in which soccer athletes of the state of Illinois, receive All Section, All State and All American honors. This letter will give you important information on how you can obtain membership to the Association. Please read the information carefully so there will be no delay in receiving your voting cards. Enclosed is a copy of the membership application for the 2003 – 04 season. All applications for the Boys Head Coaches must be postmarked by Monday, September 15th to be valid. Your 13 All Sectional game voting cards and the name of your Sectional Coordinator will be sent to you upon receipt of your application and dues. Your $20.00 membership fee covers you for the boy’s season in the fall and the girl’s season in the spring. ( note: this is an individual coaches membership. This is not a school membership. If there is a different head coach for the girls, he or she must join separately. They are not under your membership.) This means that in order for your athletes to be eligible for any awards, the head coach must join the association. **** REMINDER **** The sooner you send in
your membership application and dues, the sooner you will receive your cards.
If your application goes through your school’s business
office, please remind them to process and send the application and fee ASAP.
The IHSSCA membership coordinator, Joe Moreau, will mail your cards
out the next day after your application and fees are received.
Last season the delays on receiving your cards were minimal. In fact, the main delays came from the coaches that do not teach at the school. Their problem is that they do not get their mail from the school. If you know of a new coach or a coach that doesn’t teach at the school he’s coaching, please inform him about the letter. He can obtain the application and a copy of this letter on our web page at IHSSCA.com. The number of All-Midwest and All-American high school
players that Illinois will receive is based on the membership to the NSCAA, the
National Soccer Coaches Association. In
order for an Illinois player to receive any National recognition, their coach
must be a member of the NSCAA. You
can obtain the application at nscaa.com. The IHSSCA strongly supports the NSCAA and encourages you
to join. The IHSSCA also works in conjunction with the Chicago Fire for the All Academic Team. Applications for this award can be will be given out by the Chicago Fire. A reminder for all Head Coaches, to consider our nominees for our post season awards: Soccer Person of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Myro Rys, Media, and Head Coach of the Year. The IHSSCA Board is very pleased to announce that KELME USA continues to be our association sponsor. Our agreement runs through February 2003. KELME USA will present our All State players in attendance at our honors banquet with a special gift. They will also sponsor our Coach of the Year award and our annual IHSSCA indoor All Star game. KELME USA has made a substantial commitment to the high school soccer players of Illinois through the IHSSCA. Please consider KELME USA’s outstanding uniforms, warm-ups, and shoes when budgeting and ordering for next year. KELME USA also offers an outstanding package for coaches. We are also pleased to announce that Brine will also be one of our sponsors. They will be sponsoring our Sportsmanship Award. Please consider Brine when purchasing your practice and game balls.
